Houston, TX (December 10, 2019) – Detechtion Technologies, the global leading Industrial IoT and Mobility solution provider in the oil and gas industry, today announced the launch of several new expansion modules for its Enbase® Hub edge device.
The Enbase IIoT platform provides a turnkey solution for the oil & gas industry with a completely integrated stack including edge device, edge software, cellular and satellite network communications, and cloud software. The Enbase Hub, Detechtion’s flagship and market leading edge device, is a key component of this stack and has built in capabilities supporting local communication over Wi-Fi, Ethernet , serial (both RS-232 and RS-485) and CAN bus as well as supporting common industrial protocols such as Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, J1939, and J1708, allowing the Hub to interact with the most common devices found in the oilfield.
Today, Detechtion is announcing the release of several new expansion modules that can be attached to the Enbase Hub (or other expansion modules) in a “plug and play” fashion to extend its capabilities and to meet a growing number of requirements.
The Enbase Compact Expansion I/O Module is an alternative to the standard Expansion I/O Module to address several common needs. The compact module can be used in lieu of the full module when the full I/O counts simply aren’t required. Chemical injection control is an application that the Compact Expansion I/O Module is particularly well suited to address. It can also be used to expand a full Expansion I/O Module when, for example, additional analog outputs are needed for advanced control.
The Enbase Satellite Expansion Module can be used provide additional connectivity to an existing cellular Enbase Hub, enabling it to provide more reliable delivery of critical alarms such as shutdowns via satellite communications. This was previously only available in an Enbase dual modem Hub. This provides greater flexibility in the field to add satellite connectivity only when needed and greater portability to redeploy as oilfield assets move or other conditions or needs change.
The Enbase J1708 Expansion Module will provide additional SAE J1708 support, which is a standard used for serial communications from some engine control modules or systems. Support for J1708, in addition to Enbase’s existing support for J1939 and Modbus, will enable the Enbase Hub to communicate locally with a more complete set of engine controllers.
“Detechtion continues to innovate and deliver enhanced capabilities to meet the growing needs of our customers and the market,” announced Virgil Haney, CTO at Detechtion. “This new line of Enbase expansion modules gives our customers a great deal of flexibility to customize and right size a solution to meet their specific requirements to monitor, protect, control and optimize oilfield assets.”
