Detechtion Technologies Announces New Pipeline Maintenance Capability on Mobile Platform

New pigging workflows in Fieldlink bring digitization and associated cost savings to upstream and midstream businesses

Houston, TX (December 16, 2020) - Detechtion Technologies, the proven Asset Performance Management, Industrial IoT, and Mobile Oilfield Management solution provider in the Upstream Oil & Gas industry, today announced a new pigging template in its library of Fieldlink digitized forms and workflows. With Fieldlink, producers can digitally transform paper forms and manual, fragmented business processes providing comprehensive activity coverage, full transparency, and auditability of work performed by both employees and third-party oilfield services. This digital transformation drives critical efficiencies and cost savings in their operations.

Pigging is a pipeline maintenance operation aimed at keeping a pipe free from debris and buildup which ensures oil and gas can run through smoothly and reduces the likelihood of product contamination. A device known as a pig is inserted into the pipeline and as it moves through the pipeline, it removes deposits within the pipe. These deposits can cause corrosion which could lead to disastrous leaks and cracks in the pipe. Deposits can also lead to reduced performance and increased energy costs. Like many oilfield activities, pigging is typically scheduled with emails or phone calls and tracked on paper forms or in spreadsheets, which are very error-prone and susceptible to data latency.

With the new pigging workflow, Fieldlink prevents delayed or skipped runs by integrating with an existing pipeline integrity management system and using that data to schedule jobs for pipelines requiring maintenance. User-friendly, digital forms allow the operators to quickly and accurately document the performed work in the field and automatically synchronize to the cloud when the worker has Internet connectivity. Supervisors and engineers receive timely notifications as the work is completed.

"With Fieldlink, our customers are able to extend their existing systems of record into the oilfield, and even start capturing activities that they don't currently have systems for, all with a single mobile app built for oil & gas field workers," said Chris Smith, President and CEO at Detechtion.

Detechtion's template library covers hundreds of workflows in upstream oil & gas including work orders, chemical management, hauling, inspections and other environmental, health & safety activities. With the new pigging workflow, Detechtion is pushing the maintenance capabilities downstream of the wellhead and into midstream. And with Fieldlink, all forms and workflows are flexible and can easily be configured to meet each customer’s unique business needs

"With our comprehensive template library, deep domain expertise, and industry best practices," Smith continued, "Detechtion delivers unmatched time-to-value, often deploying solutions meeting customers’ specific requirements in a matter of weeks. And these solutions are creating efficiencies in our customers’ businesses, giving them proof of service and invoicing integrity with their service providers, and ultimately driving greater business performance."
